Title
The Musicians
Subject
Jessie Wilber one-color woodblock print
Description
46" by 30" one color woodblock print on fabric, 1965
In this print, which is quite large for Wilber, she depicts the evenings spent with other artists, dancers, writers and of course musicians, as shown here. These get-togethers were one way in which the Modernists in Montana could share their work and their ideas. This was instrumental in forming the kind of community that could stand up to the kind of hostile modernist aesthetic that prevented the sales of their work.
