Huns
Dublin Core
Title
Huns
Subject
Single color woodblock print
Description
Wilber's 19" by 12" woodblock print on reddish brown paper of Huns shows her appreciation of nature while still giving the viewer the freedom to complete the image. Her use of the woodblock print is not only a nod to the Japanese woodblock prints that inspired the early European Modernists, but an expression of her world as seen through the eyes of a woman artist. Most landscapes and nature paintings of the time treated the subject with mimetic precision.
